REVIEW USFor Dr. Alexander Smith, the measure of good care isn’t just relief. It’s getting to the root cause to allow you to do what you love for years to come.
Dr. Smith earned his degree in Exercise Science, with a minor in Biology, from UNC Charlotte in 2013. While shadowing at Joint and Spine under Dr. Gigante during his summer breaks, he found his calling. What began as preparation for physical therapy school turned into a clear decision to pursue chiropractic, after seeing firsthand the impact this style of care could have on patients. He completed his doctorate at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic.
His background in athletics shaped his clinical focus from the start. At Bridgeport, he helped develop and run the university’s Human Performance Lab, where he evaluated athletes on movement quality, performance, and injury risk. That expertise carried into professional and collegiate sports, including work with the New York Rangers during training camp, as well as athletic programs at Sacred Heart University and Fairfield University.
Following graduation, Dr. Smith spent nine years in practice honing his craft, undergoing mentorship by a physical therapist. During that time, he expanded his skill set to include advanced therapeutic exercises, cutting edge soft tissue techniques, and a broader range of chiropractic modalities, while also incorporating golf-specific training and movement assessments. His approach helps golfers, baseball players, and tennis players correct the mechanical limitations that quietly erode a swing, so they can keep playing at a high level for as long as they choose, not for as long as their body allows.
Today, Dr. Smith practices alongside Dr. Gigante at Joint and Spine, pairing over 50 years of combined clinical insight with a modern, performance-driven approach to musculoskeletal care. Patients working with Dr. Smith can expect a treatment plan built specifically around their body, their goals, and the life they want to keep living. If the root cause has not been addressed and pain is holding you back, or you’re ready to move and perform better than you have in years, Dr. Smith is ready to help you get there.
